The environmentally friendly, self-levelling Isocrete Alpha Screed was chosen for the project thanks to its rapid-set properties and its reputation for creating a hard wearing and reliable screed layer.
The 143 residential unit development pump applied 13,000 square metres of the screed across all the site’s stairs, landings, basement and ramped areas. The Isocrete Alpha Screed was combined with Isowarm Underfloor Heating and Isocrete Acoustic K foam to create a floor that simultaneously delivers energy efficient heating while reducing noise transmission.
95% of the alpha hemi-hydrate calcium sulphate binder used in the Isocrete Alpha Screed is reclaimed from industrial waste, significantly reducing the amount of material sent to landfills.
The Isocrete Alpha Screed has a 20% faster drying time compared to traditional anhydrite flowing screeds and its laitance free finish does not require sanding prior to applying a coating.
Delivered to the installation area either ready mixed or in a mobile mixing unit, the screed material is machine pumped to the various levels of the development. Flowcrete UK’s London-based fixed screed-mixing plant operates seven days a week to supply city developments with screed material whenever is best for them.
This flooring project was overseen by Isocrete Project Management who provided the client with a single point of contact for all supply, installation and after-sales needs.
