Case Study: Amazon, Bathgate – New Multi-Storey Car Park Installation
Installer: Floor & Wall Ltd
System Used:Deckshield Rapide ED1 & Deckshield ID
Location: Bathgate, Edinburgh
Project Size: Approx. 20,000 m²
The Project
As part of its growing logistics network, Amazon commissioned the construction of a new multi-storey car park (MSCP) at its DEH1 distribution hub in Bathgate, Edinburgh. The structure includes a van deck that facilitates rapid vehicle movement and turnaround – a critical component in Amazon’s high-speed delivery model.
With performance, reliability, and delivery speed being paramount, the project team needed robust waterproofing and surfacing systems that could meet Amazon’s operational standards while staying on schedule. The works were delivered by Bowmer & Kirkland with UMC Architects leading the design, and Flowcrete partner Floor & Wall Ltd selected as the specialist installer.
The Solution
Flowcrete supplied two high-performance solutions to cover the full 20,000 m² deck surface:
Deckshield Rapide’s PUMA-based formulation was critical to the programme’s success, enabling rapid installation and reducing weather-related delays. The system’s proven track record on other Amazon projects further supported its specification, with Flowcrete’s early involvement in the design phase ensuring a smooth, coordinated delivery.
Results
With a 10-week installation window, the project was completed in October 2025. The use of Flowcrete’s fast-curing systems allowed Floor & Wall to meet tight timelines without compromising quality or durability.
This project once again demonstrates Flowcrete’s ability to support complex, large-scale logistics developments with innovative solutions tailored to high-performance environments. Through close collaboration between Flowcrete, Floor & Wall, and the wider project team, Amazon has received a resilient, fit-for-purpose parking structure designed to last.
