Case Study: IKEA Flagship Store – Oxford Street, London
The Project

IKEA’s highly anticipated flagship store on Oxford Street, opened in May 2025 demanded a flooring solution that could not only meet the brand’s aesthetic and performance expectations but also withstand exceptionally high levels of footfall. As a retail environment expecting thousands of daily visitors, the specification called for a hard-wearing, visually appealing and fast-track flooring solution across multiple areas including the sales floor, back-of-house and kitchen zones.

Flowcrete partnered with The Progressive Group to deliver a tailored flooring package that would meet both performance and programme demands for the fast-moving city-centre site.

The Solution

To meet IKEA’s requirements, Flowcrete specified a combination of high-performance resin and screed systems:

-          Isocrete Ultimate  K Screed was applied across 8,000 sqm to provide a robust, fast-drying base layer capable of withstanding early foot traffic and enabling rapid follow-on trades.

-          Peran STB Classic, a decorative and durable resin finish, was installed across 7,500 sqm of public-facing and retail zones, delivering a long-lasting solution with excellent abrasion resistance and aesthetic appeal.

-          Flowfresh HF LT, a heavy-duty, hygienic polyurethane system, was applied in 200 sqm of kitchen and food prep areas. This HACCP International certified system supports hygiene-critical spaces with chemical and thermal shock resistance.

The Progressive Group’s installation ensured minimal disruption to the overall build schedule, aligning perfectly with the fast-paced demands of a flagship retail fit-out.

Results

Flowcrete’s screed and resin systems were installed successfully, delivering a durable, attractive and easy-to-maintain flooring solution suitable for high-traffic retail environments. Ultimate K Screed’s rapid-curing properties played a key role in keeping the programme on track, making it possible to install finishes sooner and hit key milestones.

This project highlights Flowcrete’s ability to supply fully compatible screed and resin floor systems that perform under pressure. The IKEA Oxford Street store stands as a landmark retail development, and Flowcrete is proud to play a key role in supporting its launch.
